The Design and Technology Curriculum at Lindley CE Infant School
Design and Technology Curriculum Intent
At Lindley CE Infant School, our Design and Technology curriculum is designed to help every child grow, learn, and shine as creative and practical problem-solvers. Through a carefully sequenced progression of skills in designing, making, evaluating, and technical knowledge, children learn to create purposeful products for real-life contexts. Guided by our values of Respect, Friendship, and Trust, pupils collaborate, share ideas, and develop resilience as they take risks and learn from mistakes. Our curriculum is built around three key “Big Ideas”: designing and developing ideas, mastering practical skills and techniques across areas such as food, textiles, structures, and mechanisms, and evaluating and improving outcomes. Through this approach, children develop independence, creativity, and critical thinking, gaining the confidence and skills to see themselves as capable designers who can shape the world around them.
